All companies that develop, operate, or use AI systems are subject to the training requirement - regardless of their industry or size.
The transition period ends on February 2, 2025. From that date onward, companies that develop, operate, or use AI systems are required to ensure that employees possess adequate AI competence and to take appropriate measures to build and maintain these skills in line with Article 4 of the EU AI Act.
While specific penalties have not yet been defined, they may be introduced by individual EU member states. Missing or insufficient training can still lead to liability and reputational risks.
