When Lockdowel switched to us, their system had already been upgraded from Odoo 10 to Odoo 14. However, many processes had been incorrectly configured by their previous partner, and there was no documentation for the Studio fields that had been created. Rather than attempting yet another upgrade on this unstable foundation, we decided to set up a completely new system. This required importing all invoices and bills from the current year, as well as historical sales orders along with the related customer communication. Another complication arose from invoices that were often settled with more than three separate payments, which made bank reconciliation especially difficult. On top of that, time pressure was high because Odoo 14 could no longer be hosted on Odoo.sh in the year of implementation.

We built a new system from scratch and configured it entirely according to our best-practice standards. In doing so, we managed to eliminate nearly all Studio fields, retaining only one, which significantly simplifies future maintenance. For the import of historical sales orders including Chatter communication and attached documents, we developed a custom script that made the process much more manageable – even though the data import still ran continuously for three days. At the same time, we performed extensive data cleansing in Excel so that only clean and consolidated product and contact data were migrated into the new environment.
